Today, I taped an appearance on the Nevada Newsmakers show that will air on KRNV (Channel 4 in Reno) on February 4. I had the opportunity to discuss our initiative and confront Washoe County District Attorney Richard Gammick face-to-face. I talked about how marijuana is safer than alcohol and refuted many of Mr. Gammick’s misleading statements. It was a good show and we look forward to it airing and educating the public with facts. Today, we released a television ad asking what Washoe County District Attorney Richard Gammick has been smoking. Mr. Gammick seems to think that marijuana users are less responsible than alcohol drinkers, but we beg to differ. At the end of the ad, which you can see here, we ask him if he wants Washoe County to be safer. After all, marijuana is safer than alcohol and less likely to lead to acts of violence. Maybe if Mr.

Today, in a 4 to 3 vote, the California Assembly’s Public Safety Committee passed A.B. 390, legislation that would tax and regulate marijuana in a manner similar to alcohol. This is the first time in U.S. history that a state legislature has ever passed—or even considered—a proposal to make marijuana legal, taxed, and regulated.
