Nevadans for Sensible Marijuana Laws is the sponsor of the initiative that will appear on the Nevada’ ballot on Election Day in November 2012. This initiative seeks statutory changes to Nevada law in order to establish a system to regulate marijuana in a manner similar to alcohol. Click here to read more about the law proposed in this initiative -- “An Act to Establish a Regulated System of Marijuana Distribution for Adults in Nevada.”
As the name of our campaign committee indicates, we are driven by the fact that our current marijuana laws simply do not make sense. They diminish public safety, funnel large sums of money to drug cartels, and actually make it easier for teens to purchase marijuana. In addition, our current marijuana laws have the effect of steering adults away from marijuana and toward alcohol, a substance from more harmful to the health of the user and far more likely to produce domestic, community, and interpersonal violence.
We seek a new way. This is what we want:
If you support these goals, we hope you will join us in fighting for more sensible marijuana laws in this state. You can do so in a number of ways: You can volunteer through our Action Center, donate to the campaign, or simply help spread the word to family, friends, and colleagues throughout the state.
If we work together and help our fellow Nevadans understand the nonsensical nature of our current laws and the benefits of a legal and regulated market for marijuana, we will win in 2012.
Let’s go!
